Conheci a Lígia Fernandes através do meu trabalho na MPAGDP. Uns anos depois visitei-a no seu atelier no Largo Residências em Lisboa. Fascinava-me o trabalho dela em pintura onde buscava inspiração em fotografias antigas. A ligação que a Lígia estabelece com as pessoas que retrata, os projectos em que envolve a comunidade na sua arte. Sempre dedicada aos outros, às histórias que contam, às vidas que têm. Os retratos da Lígia queriam-se naturais, em estúdio no seu dia a dia.
I met Lígia Fernandes through my work at MPAGDP. A few years later I visited her at her studio in Largo Residências Lisboa. Her paintings always fascinated me because she would look out for her inspiration in old photographs. She bonds with the people she paints, and her projects inside the community, bonds art with people. She dedicates a lot of her work to others, through their stories, through their lives. Her portraits were meant to be natural, in her daily life at her studio.
